Stewardship

Stewardship is our faith response to Christ's invitation to follow Him. As disciples of Christ, good stewardship begins with gratitude for all the blessings and gifts that have been entrusted to each of us, and ends with loving, concrete actions that reflect our responsibility to God for what God has given us. As Catholics, stewardship should be our way of life.

St. Ann is gifted with wonderful, loving, and generous people! Already, there is plenty of evidence that many of our parishioners are active and deeply involved in the life of the parish. What we want to accomplish is to "widen the circle" and invite many others to come and be a part of a life-giving and faith-filled community. We are offering to all of us the challenge of being good Stewards of our Time, Talent, and Treasury. "You have made us Stewards of your Creation, to praise you night and day for the marvels of your Creation." (Preface of the Mass.) Coming to Sunday Mass is very important, but, we are called to serve one another in the Body of Christ. Jesus taught us by word and deed to "wash each others feet" in loving service in his Name.

Please look over the numerous opportunities and ministries below and pray for Divine Guidance to give of your time and gifts to the Lord's Service at St. Ann's. If you are already involved, keep up the good work, if not, consider the gift of one to three hours a week to a volunteer program of your choice, and also, the areas of greatest need.

I have learned in my life that our God is a generous God -- he will not be outdone by our generosity -- he will be generous to you. "What goes around, comes around' - we reap what we sow. Come, let us be about the work of building his Kingdom!

ALTAR SERVERS
FUNCTION: Altar servers have the important responsibility of assisting the celebrant during the holy Sacrifice of the Mass. All those 5th grade or above interested and accepted will be trained before being asked to serve.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: During the Mass you normally attend.

BEREAVEMENT
FUNCTION: Help prepare the Church for a funeral. Assist the funeral director, relatives and friends arriving for a funeral. Secure the Church following a funeral.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: As needed, requires approximately 2 hours.

COFFEE AND FELLOWSHIP
FUNCTION: Set up area for social time in Neidert Hall following Sunday morning Masses. Make coffee and juice and clean up afterward.
WHERE: Neidert Hall
WHEN: Sunday mornings half an hour before and after the 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. Mass.

CRAFT GROUP FUNCTION
FUNCTION: A welcoming and fund social group of ladies who meet once a month to knit, crochet, quilt, etc. No experience necessary. Experts available to teach the process.
WHERE: Parish Life Center
WHEN: 3rd Saturday each month, 10-12 noon.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
FUNCTION: Distribute Holy Communion at weekend Masses.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: As scheduled, usually once or twice a month at the Mass you normally attend. Please arrive 10 minutes before Mass to check in. Training is required.

FINANCE BOARD
FUNCTION: The St. Ann Finance Board is an advisory board appointed by the pastor. The purpose of the Parish Finance Board is to assist the pastor in the administration of parish assets.

HISPANIC OUTREACH
FUNCTION: Provide spiritual and practical help to Hispanic Immigrants, to settle in their new environments with their families and become familiar with how they may adapt to their new role in the U. S. ESL class (English as a Second Language) is currently available.
Spanish Mass: Every Sunday at 6 pm (Nursery available 5:45 pm – 7 pm)
Choir (Spanish hymns and songs) Practice is twice weekly on varied days.

HOSPITAL MINISTRY
FUNCTION: Take Holy Eucharist to Catholics who are in the hospital.
WHERE: Centennial Hospitals
WHEN: Once or twice a month, any day except Monday and Friday. You must be trained with Father Breen if you have not been trained as a Eucharistic Minister.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
FUNCTION: Welcome new parishioners, new babies and newly adopted children, coordinate receptions for RCIA graduates and the newly confirmed plus quarterly receptions for all parishioners, and develop other activities that extend hospitality to parishioners.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #11925
FUNCTION: A Fraternal Service organization of Catholic men that offers an opportunity for fellowship with people who share the same beliefs and who recognize the same duty to God, family, Church, and community. Their web page address is http://www.kofc11925.com.

WHEN: Second Wednesday of each month, Rosary at 6:30 PM, Meeting at 7:00 PM

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL # 11925, LADIES AUXILIARY
FUNCTION: Offers an opportunity for adult, female, practicing Catholics, 18 years of age or older, or any non-Catholic female married to a member of the St. Ann Knights of Columbus to enjoy fellowship and service.
WHERE: St. Ann Parish Life Center
WHEN: Third Wednesday of each month 7:00 p.m.

LECTORS
FUNCTION: Proclaim the Scriptures at weekend Masses.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: As scheduled, once each 6 -8 weeks at the Mass you normally attend. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass to check in. Training is required.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN
FUNCTION: Serve as an alternative Sunday Liturgy of the Word geared toward children in grades 1-4. It is offered each Sunday during the 11:00 a.m. Mass and facilitated by an adult leader, assisted by one or more teen leaders. The children hear their own authorized but simplified version of the 1st Reading, Responsorial Psalm, Gospel, Creed and Petitions. The homily is an interactive discussion after listening, then reflecting and responding to the Readings.
WHERE & WHEN: Children and leaders will be formally dismissed from and returned to 11:00 Sunday Mass during the regular Liturgy of the Word. They will meet upstairs in the school building.

LOAVES AND FISHES
FUNCTION: Feed the hungry by cooking, serving the guests, then cleaning the kitchen and dining room.
WHERE: Holy Name Parish Center
WHEN: The third Wednesday of each month from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

MUSIC MINISTRY
CHOIR
WHEN: Practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. for Sunday 8:30 a.m. Mass. Meets 30 minutes before Mass. Additional time is required for Holy Days.

FOLK GROUP
WHEN: Practice Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00pm in the lower level of the PLC and meet one hour before 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sundays.

NURSERY
FUNCTION: Provide care for children ages 1 - 5 years immediately prior to and during Mass.
WHERE: St. Ann Parish Life Center, lower level
WHEN: During Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass, attendant on duty.

OFFERTORY GIFT BEARERS
FUNCTION: Present offertory gifts at weekend Masses.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: Once each 7 - 8 weeks at the Mass you usually attend.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
FUNCTION: Process of information and formation in the faith for those interested in becoming a Catholic and an opportunity for Catholics to share their faith through sponsorship.
WHERE: St. Ann Parish Life Center
WHEN: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 p.m. - starts in September

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - (Sunday School of Religion)
FUNCTION: Provide religious education for children, grades K-8, who do not attend Catholic Schools.
WHERE: St. Ann School
WHEN: Sundays 9:40 -10:45 a.m. Late August - May

RELIGIOUS VOCATIONS
FUNCTION: Works to promote and foster vocations to priesthood and religious life.

SACRISTAN
FUNCTION: Prepare the church for weekend worship dusting, cleaning the glass doors, cleaning and filling holy water bowls, straightening missalettes, etc.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: Friday afternoon or Saturday morning, for about hour, once or twice a year.

S.A.L.T. (Spirituality and Lay-ministry Together)
FUNCTION: Provide opportunities for adult education spiritual formation.
WHERE & WHEN: As announced in Sunday bulletin

SCOUTS/LEADERS
FUNCTION: Provide opportunities for children to learn leadership skills, become involved in community affairs, and have a variety of learning experiences while having fun!
WHERE: St. Ann School

SENIOR LUNCHEON
FUNCTION: Potluck lunch for parishioners age 55 years and older.
WHERE: Parish Life Center
WHEN: 2nd Thursday of each month

SHARE THE WORD
FUNCTION: Provide adult spiritual enlightenment and emotional support by reading and discussing the Sunday Scripture readings. Drop-ins are welcome.
WHERE: St. Ann School Library
WHEN: Sundays 9:45-10:45 a.m. September-May

ST. ANN BIBLE STUDY GROUP
FUNCTION: Various small groups meet at various times and places. Some are:  focus on a particular book of the Bible; spiritual book reviews with discussion; RENEW's Why Catholic? series. Contact Adult Formation Director for specific information.

ST. ANN PARISH COUNCIL
FUNCTION: The St. Ann Parish Pastoral Council shares in the decision making process which assists Father Breen in carrying out the leadership role that is his within the parish. Though consultative in nature, the council's responsibilities include: researching the needs, ideas and hopes of the parish community; leading a process for identifying the parish mission; encouraging support of existing ministries; and planning for the parish's future. Members are appointed by the pastor and serve two years on the Council.

Facilitator for Rainbows Program
This program is for students who have experienced loss in their lives. Facilitator is trained to run group sessions with 6-8 students.

In-School Tutoring
Students often need extra help in a one-on-one setting. Tutors would work during the school day to help students with reading, math or other schoolwork.

Library Help
Individuals will help the librarian with shelving and other library tasks.

Facility Maintenance
Individuals would be on a will-call basis to help with building or repair projects at the school.

Technology Help
Individuals with technology expertise will help repair or upgrade computer workstations.

Office Help
At various times of the year, the school needs assistance preparing and stuffing envelopes along with other office tasks.

Kroger Gift Card Program
The purchase of Kroger gift cards by our parishioners helps St. Ann School buy needed enrichment items. Gift cards may be purchased after the Sunday Masses by the Chapel side entrance or by contacting the school.

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
FUNCTION: Committee to develop and maintain awareness, within our parish, of stewardship as a Catholic way of life. Our yearly stewardship renewal is designed and implemented by this committee in the fall.


USHERS & GREETERS
FUNCTION: Prepare the Church for Mass, greet members on arrival, assist with collections and communion and secure the Church following Mass.
WHERE: St. Ann Church
WHEN: 20-30 minutes prior to and following Mass, 1-4 times a month.

WEB SITE COMMITTEE
FUNCTION: Develop and maintain the St. Ann Web Site (www.saintannparish.com)

YOUTH MINISTRY
FUNCTION: To provide fun and meaningful opportunities for the Youth of the parish in the areas of social, service and liturgy/worship. This is NOT catechetical in the sense of replacing religious education but rather supplementing it. We strive to provide a safe and caring environment in which to best personify "real-life," wholesome, family-oriented situations and allow them to experience growth toward the Christian ideal, an alternative to what is often modeled to them in our secular society. We encourage joint participation with adult ministries in all three areas.

JR. CYO (5th-8th Graders) and SR. CYO (High School) meet together on Sunday evenings downstairs in the Parish Life Center 2-3 times per month. For specific schedule, contact Church Office.
